You’ve got a Maytag refrigerator that won’t defrost properly. The ice cream on top has melted into mush. What should you do?

If not, we need to figure out why the unit won’t freeze. Note down any problems you encounter while testing the unit. Once you are sure the problem is resolved, proceed to step 5.
How to repair Maytag refrigerator freezer coils?
If you want to repair your Maytag refrigerator freezer coils yourself, here are the steps:
1) Disconnect the three-pronged plug from the back of the refrigerator.
2) Unscrew the two screws holding the door grid panel in place.
3) Pull the door grid panel away from the front of the refrigerator.
4) Lift the top cover plate and pull the wire harnesses out of the back of the refrigerator through the access hole.
5) Take the old freezer out of the refrigerator and set aside.
