What You Need To Know Before You Measure Refrigerator Size
Refrigerators measure in cubic feet. This measurement is based on how many cubic feet of air space the refrigerator takes up. For instance, if you have a 30 cubic foot refrigerator, you could fit about 30 gallons of milk into the fridge. A typical refrigerator holds between 12 and 20 gallons of milk. How to Measure Refrigerator Size in Easy Steps
Measure the interior width of the refrigerator door opening. This measurement is usually marked on the back panel of the refrigerator. It is important to measure the width of the opening because if the door is not wide enough, the refrigerator will not fit into the space properly. If the door opening is wider than the width of the refrigerator, you will need to adjust the depth of the refrigerator to accommodate the extra space. For example, if the door opening is 18 inches wide, but the refrigerator only fits in a 16 inch deep space, you will need to move the refrigerator deeper into the space.
Measure the Width of the Fridge
To measure the width of the fridge, place a ruler along the edge of the door opening and mark where the edge of the door meets the wall. Then, measure from the top of the door opening to the bottom of the door opening. Measure the Depth of the Fridge Measure the depth of the fridge using the same method described above. To measure the depth of the fridge, place the ruler along the edge of one side of the door opening and measure down from the top of the opening to the bottom of that side. Repeat this process for the other side of the door opening. Add these two measurements together to get the total depth of the fridge.
Measure the Height of the Fridge
Measure the height of the refrigerator using the same method described earlier. Place the ruler along the edge closest to the ceiling and measure from the top of that edge to the bottom of the opposite edge. This measurement represents the height of the refrigerator.
Measure the Depth of the Fridge
To measure the depth of the refrigerator, place the ruler along the back wall and measure from the floor to the top of the wall. This measurement represents the depth of the refrigerator.
