First, cut the tortilla into small pieces. Then, put the tortilla pieces onto a plate. Next, spread some beans over the tortilla pieces. Add some cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Finally, sprinkle some salt and pepper. That’s all! You can make a crispy tostada if you’d like. Just fry the tortilla until it gets crispy.
Toast a tortilla shell by placing it directly onto a hot skillet or griddle. Spread a thin layer of refried beans (or other bean mixture) across the surface of the tortilla. Top with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, cilantro, or whatever else you desire. Fold the sides of the tortilla inwards, pressing down firmly. Place the folded side of the tortilla into the pan or griddle. Cook until golden brown on each side. Serve immediately.

Using a rolling pin or similar object, roll out the tortilla until it becomes very thin. Remove the top piece of aluminum foil. Cut the rolled-out tortilla into strips that are about 1/2 inch wide. Repeat this process until you’ve made enough tostadas.
Now, heat a frying pan or griddle over medium high heat. When the pan is hot, add the tostadas. Fry them until they become crispy. Turn them over when necessary.
