The pressure is equalizing
The GE Refrigerator uses a simple click mechanism to indicate when the internal pressure has been equalized. When you open the door, the indicator lights up green and stays lit until the pressure is equalized.
Once the pressure is equalized, the indicator turns off and remains off until the next time you open the door.

Here is what you can do to solve the clicking sound problem of your refrigerator
1. check the start relay
In order to test your fridge’s relay, first locate the switch on the back of the unit. Next, turn the power cord over so that the plug end faces the wall outlet. Turn the switch to ON position and wait until the red light appears before pressing the button on the front panel. Wait another 15 seconds and repeat the process.
If everything worked correctly, you’ll hear a click sound followed by a hum. Or locate the compressor and unfasten the start relay from its side. Once you detach it from its place, try shaking it. The rattling sound indicates that the start relay has gone bad and is in need of a replacement.
Once you purchase the required parts for installing your start relay, you’ll find instructions included. Simply follow the directions carefully, and you should be able to complete the installation within 45 minutes.
2. check the condenser fan

After turning off the unit, users may access the condenser fan and verify its functionality. We recommend opening the refrigerator door so that cold air enters the interior of the refrigerator.
Turning on the light switch is usually pretty straightforward. However, when you’re looking for something inside your refrigerator, you may forget to turn on the lights. So before you open it, make sure to turn on the light switch.
After turning on the light switch, look below your refrigerator. There’s a small hole in the floorboard. Look underneath the opening and you’ll find the condensing unit.
Remove the cover and remove the condensing unit. Now you can check out your fan. If the fan is not spinning appropriately then it means that the fan has gone bad and is in need of replacement.
If the fan is not functioning properly then it might cause the compressor to go bad.
3. check the motherboard
First things first, turn off the power switch. Now, you’ll need to disconnect all the wires coming out of the back of the fridge. Remove the cover plate from the back of the unit. There will be four screws holding this cover plate in place. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove these screws. Once the cover plate is removed, grab hold of the motherboard and gently pull it out of the chassis.
Now, we’re going to need to disconnect all the wiring running from the motherboard to the rest of the components in the fridge. To do so, simply unplug each wire as you find it. When finished, just plug everything back together again and reattach the cover plate.
Once everything is plugged back into its proper place, turn the power back on and test your system to make sure everything is functioning properly.

First thing I did was unplugged the refrigerator from the wall socket. Then I turned off the power switch on the back panel of the fridge. Next I plugged the power cord into the outlet again and waited for about 5 minutes. Then I turned on the power switch on the front panel of the fridge. This solved the problem.
