You’ve bought a new Whirlpool freezer, and it won’t freeze. What should you do?
The freezer has stopped working properly. This means that food inside is spoiling or rotting. If you don’t fix the problem soon, you’ll have to throw out the food.
This is a common issue with freezers. They often stop freezing correctly after a certain amount of time. There are several reasons why this happens, such as a faulty compressor or ice build-up.
To solve this problem, check whether the freezer door seals properly. If they aren’t sealed well enough, air can enter the freezer compartment. This causes the temperature to drop, which stops the fridge from freezing anything.

If your refrigerator isn’t cooling or freezing food properly, there could be many problems. The most likely reason for this is an electrical fault in the compressor.

Check the Condenser Coils
Your condenser coils are responsible for keeping the cold air flowing through the system. If they’re damaged, the air will no longer flow smoothly.
You can test them by taking off the front panel of the fridge. Look at the condenser coils on the back wall. If they look dirty, clean them with a damp cloth.
If the coils appear to be fine, but still aren’t working, try cleaning the fan blades. These are usually covered in dust, so use a brush to remove any dirt.
If the coils are still not working, call a repairman.
Check the Compressor Motor
A broken motor in the compressor can cause all sorts of problems. For example, if the motor doesn’t turn fast enough, the compressor might overheat.
It’s also possible that the compressor is stuck in one position. To find out what’s wrong, open up the compressor casing.
Look for something like a screwdriver sticking out of the side. Remove it, and see if the motor turns freely. If it does, then the compressor is probably OK.
Call a repairman immediately if the screwdriver is missing or the motor doesn’t work.
Check the Thermostat
If the thermostat isn’t working properly, the fridge won’t cool down when needed.
There are two types of thermostats: electronic and mechanical. Electronic ones are more expensive than their mechanical counterparts, but they last much longer.
If the thermostatic switch is faulty, it could mean that the whole unit needs replacing. Contact between the thermostat and the control board. Try tightening these connections. If the problem persists, call a repairman to come and take a look.
Check the Evaporator Fan Motor
The evaporator fan motor is responsible for moving the air around inside the fridge. If it fails, the fridge won’t keep its contents fresh.
This part should be easy to fix. Simply unplug the fridge, and lift the bottom panel. You’ll see a small plastic fan attached to the evaporator coil.
Remove this fan, and you’ll see a metal shaft running along the baseboard. Turn this shaft until it spins freely.
If the motor starts spinning easily, then the fan is probably OK. However, if it doesn’t spin freely, then the motor has failed. Call a repairman to have it replaced.
Check the Power Supply
The power supply converts electricity into DC (direct current). A faulty power supply can lead to other faults within the fridge.
To check the power supply, first disconnect the plug from the mains socket. Then, hold your hand near the outlet. If there’s an electric shock, the power supply is faulty.
If the power supply is OK, then check whether the fuse has blown. This is located under the fridge. If it hasn’t, replace it.
If the fuse has blown, then the power supply may need repairing. Contact a repairman to get it fixed.
Check the Fridge Door Seal
The door seal keeps the cold air inside the fridge. It’s important that it works well, because, without it, the fridge won’t stay cold.
If the seal is leaking, the fridge will lose heat quickly. The best way to check it is to open the door. If water leaks out, then the seal is damaged.
Contact a repairman to have the leak repaired.
Check the Refrigerant Line
The refrigerant line runs through the back of the freezer compartment. If it’s clogged with ice, it could prevent the freezer from cooling properly.
To check the line, remove the back cover. There should be a tube coming out of the top of the freezer compartment.
Lift up the tube, and you’ll see another one going in. Lift up the second tube, and you’ll find a third tube coming out.
These tubes carry the refrigerant gas throughout the refrigerator. If any of them are blocked, the freezer won’t function properly.
You can clean the lines yourself by using a vacuum cleaner. Just make sure that the hose isn’t too long or thin. Otherwise, it might break. Call a repairman to have them cleaned.
Whirlpool Ice Maker Not Freezing Water
If the icemaker stops making ice cubes, then it’s likely that the icemaker itself is broken. To test this, try removing the icemaker from the freezer compartment.
If the icemaker still makes ice, then contact a repairman to have him check the machine.
However, if the icemaker no longer produces ice, then the problem lies elsewhere. Check the following:
– Is the freezer compartment sealed?
– Are the doors closed tightly?
– Have you checked the temperature settings on the control panel?
– Has the compressor been turned off?
– Have you tried cleaning the condenser coils?
– Have you tested the circuit breaker?
– Have you checked the wiring connections?
– Have you removed all the food from the freezer?

1. Evaporator Fan Motor
Check if the evaporator fan motor is running. It could be stuck due to dust accumulation. Clean the fan blades using a brush. 2. Ice Maker Motor Answer: Check if the ice maker motor is running. It may be defective. Replace the motor.
2. Condenser Coils
Check if the condenser coils are clean. Remove any debris from the coils. 3. Water Filter Answer: Check if there is any blockage in the filter. Clean the filter.
3. Start Relay
Start the relay. 4. Drain Tank Answer: Drain the tank completely.
