Kenmore Refrigerator Keeps Making Ice – What to Do
If your refrigerator keeps making ice, it could mean that the compressor isn’t working properly. This is usually caused by a bad capacitor a component used to store energy. To fix this problem, you’ll need to replace the capacitor. It’s not difficult to replace, but if you don’t know how to do it, you’re better off calling a professional repairman.
1. Feeler Arm
To remove the door panel, you’ll first need to disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet. Then, turn off the power switch located near the front of the fridge. Next, lift the bottom edge of the door panel using the feeler arm. Once you have lifted the panel, slide it forward until it stops. Remove the old capacitor and place it into a plastic bag. 2. Door Panel Answer: Once you have removed the bottom edge of the panel, you’re ready to pull the panel away from the rest of the door. Slide the panel toward the back of the fridge until it stops. Remove any screws holding the panel to the frame. Place the new capacitor into the opening where the panel was attached. Replace the screws and tighten them down.
2. Plastic Paddle
Remove the two screws holding the paddle to the door. Pull the paddle away from the door. Remove the old capacitor from the paddle and replace it with the new one. Reinstall the screws and tighten them. 3. Door Handle Answer: Pull the handle away from the door. Lift the handle up and remove the four screws holding the handle to the door. Remove the handle and set aside.
3. Water Inlet Valve
Turn off the power switch and open the drain valve. Turn the knob clockwise until the water stops draining. Replace the water inlet valve. Close the drain valve and turn the power switch back on. 4. Drain Valve Answer: Open the drain valve and remove the cap. Open the drain valve and pull the drain hose out of the hole. Remove the rubber washer and install the new washer into the hole. Tighten the screw.
How do you unclog a side by side freezer drain?
