You don’t want to spend hours figuring out why your refrigerator isn’t working properly. You just want it fixed quickly. And you want to learn how to turn off the damn icemaker on your LG fridge. So today, we’ll teach you exactly how to do it. So today, we’ll show you exactly how to do that.
First things first, let’s start by turning off the power. Then we’ll unplug the unit. Then we’ll open up the door, pull out the panel, and disconnect those wires. Now we’ve got everything disconnected and ready to go. Let’s flip the switch over to the OFF position.
Now we’re going to take the cover plate off. We’re going to push down on the handle here. And now we’re going to pop the cover plate off.
The next thing we want to do is unscrew this little screw here. All right. We’ve got it loosened up. We’re going to lift it up. And we’re going to take this wire connector off.
All right. There we go. And now we’re just going to lift the whole thing off gently. And there we go.
And now we’re going to use our fingers to pry apart the housing carefully. And we’re going to undo the three screws that hold this together.
There we go. And now that we’ve taken the panel off, we can see what needs to be done.
How to Switch Off the Ice Maker?
To turn off the ice maker on an LG French door refrigerator, open the fridge door and look inside the freezer section. There you will find the ice maker compartment.

4. Check freezer temperature sensor – A small red bulb should glow green when the temperature is correct. Test it again after switching the refrigerator back on. If it still isn’t working, unplug the lead connected to the sensor and move on to step 5.
5. Clean out debris – Something could be stuck inside the ice cube tray. Remove the tray and use some compressed air to blow out any debris. Reattach the tray and test the ice-making function once again.
6. Replace ice maker assembly – If the problem persists, it may be time to replace the entire ice maker assembly. To do this, remove the two screws holding the front panel in place, then lift off the front panel. Using a screwdriver, pull the ice maker assembly away from the wall, disconnecting it from the wires leading back to the control board. Now slide the new ice maker assembly forward until it snaps into place and reattach the screws you removed earlier. Make sure to tighten them securely.
7. Reset the unit – Before powering it back on, make sure to reset the controller by pushing both buttons simultaneously. Also, check the manual if you’ve misplaced yours.
8. Continue testing – After completing steps 4 and 5, it’s time to try turning the refrigerator back on. Assuming no further problems arise, you’re done!
